Defence Industry Development Grant (DIDG) 2024

The Defence Industry Development Grant (DIDG) program guidelines have been released by The Hon. Pat Conroy MP, Minister for Defence Industry. Eligible Australian businesses can begin preparing an application to any of the four streams which include Sovereign Industrial Priorities, Exports, Skilling, and Security.

Up to $39 million in grant funds annually will support businesses to procure new capital equipment, achieve international certifications, improve technical skills or uplift business security which is needed to operate within the defence sector.

The program will open for applications tomorrow and will remain continuously open. Initial batch opportunities for the Exports and Skilling streams will close on 31 July 2024 and initial batch opportunities for the Sovereign Industrial Priorities and Security streams will close on 31 August 2024.

The inclusion of a customer Letter of Support has been introduced for some streams to allow applicants to demonstrate relevant commercial relationships and likely demand for their products or services within the defence sector. Potential applicants should allow extra time for liaison with their relevant customer to ensure a detailed letter can be tailored to support the proposed grant project, which will be assessed against other competitive proposals.
